Education & Outreach

The Local Food Project at Airlie educates Airlie Center guests about all aspects of local food and provides opportunities to learn about organic gardening and sustainable agriculture. Conference groups can:

• Take tours of the garden, followed by local food snacks and beverages
• Participate in garden-based team-building activities
• Find their way through our new organic corn maze

The Local Food Project also hosts workshops for the regional community and conducts seminars for emerging and established farmers. Past programs include:

• Exploring the Small Farm Dream, a workshop to help aspiring farmers determine next steps
• Annual Local Food Conference, featuring successful small farmers from around the Mid-Atlantic and beyond
• Cheapeake C.R.A.F.T. (Collaborative Regional Alliance for Farmer Training) Program
• Organic gardening workshops for small-space growers
